Detected personal details stay out of the AI request

GDPR Safe Mode detects supported personal details, replaces them before AI processing and restores them only after the response returns to RockettAI.

A simple example

01Original input

Draft a progress note for Sam Taylor.

RockettAI replaces the detected name
02Context sent for AI processing

Draft a progress note for [PERSON_1].

The response returns to RockettAI
03Output shown to the authorised user

Sam Taylor has made steady progress...

Sam Taylor is a fictional example. The original name is restored by RockettAI, not supplied by the AI provider.

Privacy by default

Protection that does not depend on staff remembering another step

Safe Mode makes privacy protection part of the normal RockettAI workflow, while keeping the final draft useful to the authorised member of staff.

On for every user

The protection is enabled by default, creating a consistent starting point for individual schools and MAT-wide rollouts.

Storage limited where supported

Supported AI calls are configured with provider storage disabled, and temporary provider files are deleted where supported.

No RockettAI model training

RockettAI does not use pupil data or school data to train RockettAI models.

What Safe Mode helps with

  • Replacing detected identifiers before supported AI requests
  • Applying the same default protection across staff accounts
  • Returning a useful output with the original details restored
  • Making the protection easier to explain during procurement and rollout

What schools and MATs still control

  • The lawful basis and approved purpose for using personal information
  • Which tools and information staff are authorised to use
  • Data minimisation, safeguarding and information-governance expectations
  • Professional review of every generated output before it is used
Questions schools ask

Clear answers for leaders, DPOs and procurement teams

Is GDPR Safe Mode enabled by default?

Yes. GDPR Safe Mode is enabled automatically for RockettAI users, so staff do not need to find or configure a separate privacy setting.

Does the AI provider receive the original personal details?

When supported personal details are detected, RockettAI replaces them with neutral placeholders before sending the working context to the AI provider. RockettAI restores the original details after the response returns.

Is the information anonymised?

No. Because RockettAI can restore the original details for the authorised user, this is masking or pseudonymisation rather than irreversible anonymisation.

Does GDPR Safe Mode make a school automatically UK GDPR compliant?

No single product feature can do that. GDPR Safe Mode supports a school or MAT's data-protection responsibilities, while the organisation remains responsible for its lawful basis, policies, approved uses and staff guidance.
